What is ASTM

ASTM, which stands for the American Society for Testing and Materials, is an organization that holds the copyright and ownership of a product or compilation of standards, articles, and/or documents in the PCB industry. Located at 100 Barr Harbor Drive, West Conshohocken, PA 19428-2959 USA, ASTM grants a limited license to the licensee, allowing them to access and use the ASTM product according to the terms of the agreement.

The specific licenses granted by ASTM vary based on the type of licensee. For individual users, the license permits browsing, searching, retrieving, displaying, and viewing the product. They also have the right to download, store, or print single copies of individual documents or portions of such documents for personal use. However, the electronic file may not be distributed elsewhere over computer networks or shared, and the single hard copy print may only be distributed to others for internal use within the licensee’s organization.

For single-site and multi-site licenses, authorized users have similar rights to individual users, but they are also allowed to share copies of the documents within their computer network. Educational institutions with these licenses can provide hard copies of individual documents to students in a class at their location. Additionally, authorized users can display, download, and distribute hard copies of documents for training purposes.

Any use of the ASTM product beyond the permitted uses described in the license agreement is prohibited and can result in immediate termination of the license.
