What is Body Gold

Body gold refers to a plating process used in the PCB industry. It involves the application of a gold coating on the entire body of the PCB, providing a layer of protection and enhancing its performance.

The plating of gold onto the PCB can be achieved through either electroplating or immersion, depending on the design requirements. Electroplating involves the deposition of a layer of gold onto the surface of the PCB using an electric current. Immersion, on the other hand, involves immersing the PCB into a solution containing gold ions, allowing the gold to bond with the surface of the board.

The use of gold as a surface finish offers several advantages in PCB manufacturing. Gold is highly resistant to corrosion, ensuring the longevity and reliability of the PCB. It also provides excellent solderability, allowing for easy and reliable solder connections. Additionally, gold is a highly conductive material, ensuring efficient electrical performance.
